It belonged to my late mother and was purchased new in 1949 in Fort Worth Texas. The model number is a 15, serial number is AJ066029 with a number 42 cabinet, date of manufacture; March 9th., 1949, 50,000 units manufactured. The cabinet is not in the best of condition as the unit was stored in the metal shed where it is located for the past 14 years +/-. This modern sewing cabinet also serves as a writing desk of unusual beauty. Four, spacious, dust-proof drawers provide ample room for all sewing accessories, stationery and correspondence. The top right drawer contains a spool rack and an oil can holder. The roomy drawer at the left has a built-in ink well and pencil tray.
Comfortable handling of bulky material is afforded by the large extension leaf.
She left us in 92' and we didn't start relocating the estate until 97' or 98' so 14 years in the metal shed sounds about right. The machine was completely functional when we put it into storage. I'll check Saturday 10/19/13 to see of it works and operates..
